Featured board 5’10" x 20’ x 2½" Four Fin or Thruster convertible

This design with its halfmoon fishtail is set for the smallest of shortboard waves, specifically our soft reef breaks in Westernport, but also those days at Gunna when you're thinking its too small to ride. The shape follows on from a four fin bat tail we did a few years ago and more recently a prototype that was shaped up at 6'1" x 19" x 23/8" thick.

A full pin nose[16.25" @ 12’ up] 20” width and a tail [16.25" @ 12] set this board in the fast glide mode immediately. The use of a clayton flyer gives the illusion of  a narrower tail and although short the extra width makes for very easy paddling.

The bottom shape features a concave double barrel with ¼ “ vee in the fin area to help initiate turns and provide a touch more direction.Unlike many of the retro fish this shape has noselift. On the larger models there’s a deck concave under the back foot to disperse some buoyancy.

Personally I’m surfing the boss at 70 % Four Fin while team riders Angus Forrest and Adam Morris prefer surfing their 5’7” and 5’9” models as Thrusters.

The smaller versions have been down to 5’6” and in the past month I have shaped a couple at 7ft six and one monster for an old mate at 8ft x 23 x 3.25"
