SURFNEWS.Trigger Surf Team
The Trigger Bros Surf Team has blasted it's way into 2010. Congratulations from Phil and Paul to all the guys for the ominous start they have made after the completion of Rounds 1 and 2. Results Comp 1 Open
Results Comp 2 Open
Three of the Four charger in each Open Final. " I'd say not a bad result for Trigger Bros." Over the years our team has been heavily poached, but we've always bounced back with fresh new faces who simply love to surf and for them loyalty is more than just a word. Persistance has really paid off for Callum Nicholson. Locals at Leo have admired his behind the rock back hand attack for years. He has the ability to make the difficult look easy and sometimes this skill can be overlooked by those judging. Though he's still in his early 20's he's already clocked up at least 17 years in the water. His current consistency and desire to win make him a good bet for the PSC Open Tittle.
Evergreens like Mark Harrison are still improving and there's plenty of depth in the talent pool with exciting youngsters such as Angus Forrest, Darcy Malessa, Wade Cochrane and a host of others. Perhaps our next shining star will come from the Trigger Bros Surf Crew which through great work of the PSC volunteers (mainly Parents) boasted around 100 participants at their last Crunchy Point gathering.
A special thanks to Simon Forward who has been shaping most of our team riders boards with results that speak for themselves. In collaboration with Ross McDonald a new small wave board has evolved, The Squishfish. It's 5'9" x 19¾ x 2 3/8 with a full area rounded square tail (we called this shape a squash tail in the late 70's). I managed to pry it from Ross for a ½ dozen rides at Gunna and was so impressed I rang Simon from the carpark to place an order. Details to come shortly in Trigg's shaping shed.
