November 9th sees the second Point Leo Surf Vintage Day which will be held at the picturesque Point Leo foreshore.
The last day was a roaring success with 40 odd exhibitors and in excess of a thousand people coming through the rangers box!
This years event is showing signs of exceeding all expectations with avid collectors and exhibitors already lining up to secure spots to showcase their unique quivers of vintage boards and surf memrobilia .
There will be stands incorporating all the board riding clubs that have shaped the East Coast over the past few decades. The disabled surfers will be there along with the Kombi Klub, yes the classic iconic surf vehicle will return to the point with a cavalcade of beautifully restored Kombis gathering on the grassy area adjacent to the suicide car park.
There will be some serious collectors with some classic local and international pieces from Hawaii to the east and west coasts of Victoria .
Last year we were fortunate to have Legendary surf icon George Rice who thrilled us all with some classical surf stories dating back to the early days. This year we are lucky enough to have legendary West Coast Bells Beach and Ripcurl Historian Bob Smith as our guest speaker. Bob will be sporting one of the original Bells Beach Contest Bells and other unique memorabilia. An expression surf session will be run around high tide by the PSC at Suicide with the criteria being classic mals, single fins and twinnies the mode of transport on the day!
A swap meet atmosphere will run throughout the event with all exhibitors welcome to interact and trade with each other. Music, food and refreshments will be supplied by the new Point Leo general store and Beach kiosk not to forget a refreshment at the Pt Leo Surf Life Saving Club later in the day.
